Admissions

Hednesford Valley High School is an inclusive school which is open to all students from Year 7.

However, due to size and capacity, the school must put a limit on the number of students it can educate in each class and year group, to ensure the health and safety of students and staff. This will be a flexible number and relative to the needs of the students and classes available.

Places are allocated when the school can meet the student’s needs. Students are allocated to the correct year group and follow the appropriate curriculum. There may be times when a place cannot be allocated in a year group or class group due to the dynamics of the students in the school. Priority for students will be in the following order for students aged 11 to 16, providing the school can meet the needs of the child and there is space available within the identified group/class for the student:

  • a) Students with PMLD and complex needs
  • b) Students with SLD
  • c) Students with ASD whose needs cannot be met in mainstream schools and live in the local area
  • d) Students with MLD whose needs cannot be met in mainstream schools and live in the local area.

Priority for student places in the sixth form aged 16 to 19 will be in the following order:

  • a) Students from Hednesford Valley High
  • b) Students with SLD
  • c) Students with ASD whose needs cannot be met in mainstream schools/colleges
  • d) Students with MLD whose needs cannot be met in mainstream schools/colleges.
