Welcome from our Headteacher

Mr Stephen Stokes Welcomes You.

“Ready to Learn - Ready for Life”

Dear Parent/Carer,

It is my pleasure in welcoming you to Hednesford Valley High School.  A “Good” School, where students and staff are valued, respected and inspired to reach their full potential.  Set in the backdrop of Cannock Chase, an area of outstanding national beauty, we are a maintained secondary generic special needs school supporting 180 students from years 7-14 with a wide range of additional needs.

As a qualified SENCO with a passion for SEN and over twenty year’s experience of supporting students in numerous settings, I was privileged to gain my Headship in September 2022.  Although only a short time in post, I already feel part of the family and that’s what I love most about working at Hednesford Valley.  A place where everyone believes all children have the fundamental right to succeed and work tirelessly to ensure students leave school with the skills, knowledge and confidence to lead a rewarding, engaging and enriching life.

Our mission statement is “ready to learn, ready for life”.  This underpins all aspects of work at Hednesford Valley and everything we do is built around our school values of Teamwork, Respect, Independence, Confidence and Kindness.  Our success isn’t a magic “trick” though; our practice is built on evidence-based research and the hardwork and commitment of our outstanding staff.

As you navigate the “curriculum” section, you will see that our curriculum is tailored to the individual child’s needs. It not only provides students the building blocks for lifelong learning, it also encompasses many other aspects that develop the “whole” child.  This includes; travel training, life skills, work experience, health & fitness, cooking, educational visits and many more.

I would like to thank you for taking an interest in our school and invite you to venture through the rest of our website.  I’m sure that our website provides all the information you require, however if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us via email or telephone.

Yours sincerely,

Mr S Stokes
